Nursing Direct Admit Application

Skip to the head of the line for Nursing Program acceptance and get a guaranteed cohort spot in a future Nursing class!

Newman University's prestigious Nursing Program is accepted by the healthcare industry as one of the most-coveted programs in the Midwest. Normally, students apply for the Nursing Program after completing a series of pre-requisite and general education courses in their first two years as undergraduate students. However, for a select group of high-achieving students, Newman offers a Direct Admission option. Students offered Direct Admission based on a separate application process would be guaranteed a cohort spot in a future Nursing class. Students would not be required to apply during their second year at Newman, provided that program requirements continue to be met.

REQUIREMENTS

Students can be admitted to the BSN Nursing Program as Direct Admits as a:

  • High school Senior entering their first year in college; OR
  • College Freshman with 25 (or less) college credit hours; OR
  • High school Graduate within the last 4 months entering NU with 25 (or more) college credit hours.

Students must also meet the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate application and admission to Newman University; AND
  • High School 3.6+ GPA OR ACT Composite 24+; AND
  • College credits 3.0+ GPA (if applicable); AND
  • Demonstrated involvement in community service/leadership.

HOW TO APPLY

Once you have applied and been accepted to Newman University for Undergraduate admission, you may begin your application:

  • Complete the online application and supporting materials, which include the submission of a professional résumé and an overview of licensure policies.
    • Deadline: Rolling
  • Schedule and attend a meeting with the Nursing Program Director.

REQUIREMENTS FOLLOWING SUCCESSFUL ADMISSION

To retain your guaranteed spot in your nursing cohort once you enroll at Newman, you must:

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative 3.00+ GPA while completing the pre-requisite and general education coursework.
  • All courses must be completed with a C or better.
  • Take all remaining prerequisite/general education courses at Newman University prior to beginning the nursing program.
  • Complete an interview with the Admissions and Progressions committee the semester prior to beginning the nursing program.
